Research, Data, and Projects

Policy Research Project, Community Wealth Creation and Conservation (Fall 2018-Spring 2020) | Austin, TX | Dehradun, India

  • Developed a policy research report presented to the Indian government and coordinated by the Wildlife Institute of India (WII) involving in depth field work in the Himalayan region of northern India

  • Coordinated and conducted interviews with national, state and local government units and nongovernmental organizations in Uttarakhand, India in order to make recommendations on how to consolidate human wildlife conflict in protected forest and wildlife conservation areas

  • Filmed and edited a documentary surrounding the research and fieldwork conducted UT and WII on the policy issues surrounding the Van Gujjar including hundreds of hours of footage using Final Cut Pro

  • Combined in-class research with fieldwork to design a visual report published alongside our research using Adobe InDesign with an emphasis on wealth creation, sustainable livelihoods, and entrepreneurship

Policy Research Project, Rural Revitalization in Mitarai, Osaki Shimojima, Japan (Fall 2019-Spring 2020) | Austin, TX |Hiroshima Prefecture, Japan

  • Participated in research on wealth creation and entrepreneurship in Mitarai, an island off the coast of Hiroshima Prefecture in rural Japan

  • Gathered data by speaking with business owners on their economic situation throughout the year in order to create policy recommendations for wealth creation opportunities during both tourist and off seasons in rural Japan

  • Filmed lectures and interviewed residents on their experiences for UT and the TAOYAKA Program at Hiroshima University with a focus on the key takeaways on regional development in poor rural areas

  • Documented research process and photographed local traditions in rural Japan and was featured in Fujifilm’s “Create Forever” campaign

City of Austin, Office of Communication and Technology Management (CTM) | Austin, TX

Research Assistant (June 2019-March 2020)

  • Made a master service list inventory of city services from the City of Austin website and Fee Schedule with recommendations for digitization

  • Catalogued and organized a list of 6,000+ .pdf forms off of the City’s main website for digitization using Excel and Airtable

  • Routinely coordinated with multiple city departments about accessibility issues and worked to create an audit of city services based on our department’s accessibility metric

  • Facilitated weekly photo labs with hands-on training of photography mechanics
